Park’s performance is the artist’s attempt to dismantle the preexisting notion of ‘hyo’—what has served, for over 2500 years, the societal foundation for the moral code of Northeast Asia and functioned as the ideology of societal integration—in order to reconstruct its meaning through her own family history.
